He was born in Moscow. In 1983 he graduated from the Moscow choreographic school on M. S. Martirosyan's class and at once he was accepted in ballet troupe of the Bolshoi theatre under the leadership of the People's artist of Russia Yury Grigorovich. Since 1985 – the leading soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre.

In repertoire such well-known ballet roles as Siegfried and Rotbart in "The swan lake", the prince Désiré in "The sleeping beauty", Jean de Briyenn and Abderakhman in "Raimonda", Albert and Hans in "Giselle", Conrad in "Corsair", Basil in "Don Quixote", Crassus in "Spartak", Kurbsky in "Ivan the Terrible", Tibalt and Mercutio in "Romeo and Juliette", the Young man in "Chopiniana", Artynov in "Anyuta", Franz in "Koppeliya", Colin in "Vain precaution", Boris and Yashka in "Golden Age", the Toreador in "Carmen suite", the Vizier in "A legend of love".

In 1999 he graduated from the Russian Academy of theatre (GITIS) as "teacher-ballet master".

In 2008 he is appointed to the position of the deputy artistic director according to the ballet. In 2011 he staged on the stage of theatre the ballet " Vain Precaution" on P. Gertel's music, he acted as the choreographer-ballet master of opera and ballet ball of "Strauss-gala", and also the assistant to the ballet master directed by the ballet "Mozart and Salieri". He participated in tours of ballet troupe of the theatre across Russia and in Great Britain.
