Andrey Borisov held a meeting with students of the Siberian Federal University

The delegation from the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow Music Theatre (the MAMT) headed by its Managing Director Andrey Borisov has visited Krasnoyarsk.

The MAMT artists presented the Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s opera Don Giovanni and a gala concert of Russian music Something from Pushkin for Us! to the audience of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. And on October 26, Andrey Aleksandrovich had a talk with the students from various faculties of the Siberian Federal University.

The meeting took place in the co-working hall of the SFU library; it was supposed to be a lecture, but Andrey Borisov encouraged the young listeners to “communicate” - ask questions. Communication with young people is not new to him: he is not only Managing Director of the MAMT, but also a university teacher, course master at the Faculty of Producing of the GITIS.

The lecturer and Krasnoyarsk students discussed the role of culture in the development of society. Culture is not as a set of material achievements but rather in a sociological sense - as a set of patterns of human behaviour that contribute to the onward march of the society’s progress. With all due respect to cinema, which Lenin called “the most important of all arts,” it is musical theatre that develops intelligence to the fullest extent including the emotional one. Therefore, the leading role in the social and economic development of the country belongs to those who visit the opera and ballet theatre rather than to those who watch TV series,” Andrey Borisov declared with certainty. This is why it is so important to attract young people to theatres.

The Krasnoyarsk students had the long conversation with the Moscow guest; he, in turn, highly appreciated the sharpness of their minds and the level of the questions asked.
