“Destinies Bound by Siberia”. Dedicated to our great fellow townsmen...

As a part of the celebration of its 40th anniversary, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre is preparing a concert programme Destinies Bound by Siberia, dedicated to outstanding Krasnoyarsk citizens.

These are the people whose lives were connected with our region and who glorified it with their achievements in art, literature, cinema.

They are artists and writers, musicians and singers, choreographers and actors: opera singer Dmitri Hvorostovsky, whose name our theatre now proudly bears, the Siberian nightingale Pyotr Slovtsov who’s considered to be the founder of opera art in Krasnoyarsk, the world-famous artists Vasily Surikov and Andrei Pozdeyev, “the great writer of the Russian land” - Victor Astafyev, the legendary choreographer of the Krasnoyarsk Ensemble of the Dance of Siberia Mikhail Godenko, the stars of the Soviet cinema - Innokenty Smoktunovsky and Marina Ladynina.

The concert programme will feature musical works, arias and songs performed by the best soloists of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre as well as invited soloists and creative collectives of Krasnoyarsk. It will be music that is consonant with the works of our illustrious townsmen - music they loved or performed. Soloists and dancers of the Krasnoyarsk Ballet will also take part in the concert. The music played by the Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre orchestra conducted by its chief conductor, Honoured Artist of Russia Anatoly Chepurnoy, will accompany them.

The idea of this historical concert-dedication was thought up by the theatre’s Artistic Director, Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Bobrov. The concert is directed by Lyudmila Dorokhina. We are rightfully proud of our fellow townsmen. After all, the power of Russia including its art and literature is undoubtedly developed in Siberia!

The Theatre plans to open a new theatrical season 2018-2019 with the first performance of the concert “Destinies Bound by Siberia”.
