Irina Dolzhenko and Anna Zharova to hold master classes for Krasnoyarsk opera and ballet artists

Artists of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre continue to actively broaden their professional skills. In April 2023, members of the Theatre’s opera and ballet companies will have an opportunity to attend master classes by the stars: the Bolshoi Theatre’s soloist, People’s Artist of Russia Irina Dolzhenko and prima ballerina of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, People’s Artist of Russia Anna Zharova.

On April 12, Irina Dolzhenko will come to the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre as the Countess in The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky. She is not only an outstanding performer, but also an experienced teacher: since 2012, she has been teaching the subjects Solo Singing and Studying the Concert Repertoire at the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music. Irina Igorevna will share the secrets of vocal mastery with Krasnoyarsk opera singers from 13 to 16 April. Similar master classes for vocalists were held in January 2023.

Irina Dolzhenko is well known in Krasnoyarsk by both artists and spectators. Anna Zharova will work with the Krasnoyarsk ballet company for the first time.

“I have heard a lot about the Krasnoyarsk Choreography College, whose graduates grace the world and Russian stages. In total, six classes are planned; at each of them, I give lessons from various ballet schools - the Bolshoi, Mariinsky, American, French ones. They are all very different, and it’s interesting for me to understand how my students would cope with such tasks. Today, for example, there were many elements of the French lesson with fine technique that gives correct foot movements, cleanliness and academic performance, clear and correct lines, and the ability to master fast technique. I'm trying to teach them. The students have a very solid basis, but for a diamond to sparkle it needs to be cut correctly. It needs to be polished. That's why we come every day to the ballet training hall: to move towards perfection. Our profession is the most striking example of pursuing excellence. I am very pleased to see such an incredible response from Krasnoyarsk artists here: they want to try everything, to make it better, more beautiful. This is what my work consists of,” Anna Zharova said.

The theatrical season 2022-2023 for People's Artist of the Russian Federation Anna Zharova who continues to combine teaching and artistic activities is an anniversary one: Anna Zharova first appeared on the  stage of the NOVAT (Novosibirsk Opera House) 25 years ago. Nowadays, the ballerina's repertoire includes more than a dozen leading roles; she won various competitions, has the Golden Mask award, the Soul of Dance award; what’s most important, she has found the love of the audience and the respect of her students.
