New Chief Conductor was introduced to the team of the Theatre

Today, on September 19, at the meeting of the both companies of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, the team officially met their new Music Director and Chief Conductor - Dmitri Yurovsky.

“Many theatres around the world are competing to work with Dmitri Mikhailovich. We are grateful to the maestro for taking up the position of Music Director and Chief Conductor in our theatre and hope for many years of fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation,” noted Managing Director Svetlana Guziy.

Maestro Yurovsky represents an illustrious dynasty of conductors that comprises four generations. He is Artistic Director of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, guest chief conductor of the Eugeniy Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra. As an opera conductor, he performed at the largest music venues of the world: the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opera Bastille (Paris), Geneva Opera House, Bavarian State Opera (Munich), and others.
Dmitri Mikhailovich's repertoire includes more than 150 opera and ballet productions. He has collaborated with the Semperoper in Dresden, Gewandhouse Orchestra (Leipzig), BBC Philharmonic Orchestra (Manchester), and orchestras of many famous theatres in Europe. Dmitri Yurovsky has got many Russian and international awards.

“This season, we simply cannot have ordinary shows: all of them must be perceived by us as the premiere ones. The level of a theatre is not determined by premieres, which, of course, are very important, but our main activity is the current repertoire. The theatre that bears the name of Dmitri Hvorostovsky must keep the level corresponding to the name and glory of this great artist. There is a very strong and promising creative team here. I like working with you and I hope the feeling’s mutual,” said Dmitri Yurovsky in response and wished the Theatre to walk a successful creative path and a memorable start to the new season.
