New conductors have joined the Theatre

New conductors – Eldar Nagiev and Mikhail Leontiev – are now the members of the team of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. In October, they’re going to conduct several productions.

Eldar Nagiyev has two higher degrees: he obtained them at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and the Novosibirsk one. His creative life is closely connected with Novosibirsk. Eldar had for many years served as an orchestra accompanist, assistant conductor, and conductor at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre . He collaborated with the Vladislav Yankovsky Novosibirsk Youth Symphony Orchestra, as well as Academic Philharmonic Orchestra.

He was production conductor of the NOVAT opera shows: Dido and Aeneas by Henry Purcell, Mozart and Salieri and The Snow Maiden by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, Morozko by Mikhail Krasev, The Tale of the Dead Princess and the Seven Knights by Victor Pleshak. He conducted the productions of The Nutcracker and Eugene Onegin, Don Pasquale, Die Zauberflöte, and others. He is also a chamber performer (violin).

At the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, Eldar Nagiev will make his debut as a conductor in Adolphe Adam's ballet Giselle on October 3. Later, he will will take the conductor’s stand at the productions by Pyotr Tchaikovsky: the opera Eugene Onegin (October 14, 15) and the ballet Swan Lake (October 19, 20, 21).

Mikhail Leontiev graduated from the St. Petersburg Conservatory where he studied choral and symphonic opera conducting; he actively improved his creative level by participating in master classes of outstanding music tutors of the world. He worked as a conductor and choirmaster in various music bands and theatres in Russia (the Northern Symphony Orchestra of the Music Hall Theatre, Mikhailovsky Theatre, St. Petersburg Chapels, St. Petersburg Philharmonic Society, Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra, etc.) and abroad (in Japan, Korea, Estonia, Czech Republic).

Mikhail Leontiev made his debut at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre already in September by conducting the Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera Iolanta. In October, the maestro will conduct Verdi's La Traviata, which is extremely popular among Krasnoyarsk residents.
