Russian opera. Dedication to Dmitri Hvorostovsky

February 3 - March 28, the IX international festival “Stars Parade in the Opera” takes place in the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. It’s dedicated to Russian opera classics and one of the most outstanding baritone singers in the modern times - Dmitri Hvorostovsky.

The music project “Stars Parade” engaged many citizens’ hearts years ago, because it provides a great opportunity for spectators to enjoy genuine masterpieces of opera classics and the music legacy of the greatest composers in the world, performed by soloists and conductors of the leading Russian and foreign theatres.

Along with our artists, about thirty singers and conductors performing in the best theatres of Italy, France, Finland, Belgium, Austria, Slovakia, Serbia, Mexico, Lithuania, Latvia and Russia will take our stage during these two months. Among them there are the following artists: the soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre - People's artist of Russia Irina Dolzhenko and Honoured Artists of Russia Mikhail Kazakov, Oxana Gorchakovskaya, Ekaterina Morozova and Svetlana Kasian; the ones of the Mariinsky Theatre - Askar Abdrazakov and Artiom Melikhov; Helikon Opera - Irina Samoylova and Igor Morozov as well as the soloists of the Novaya Opera Theatre (Moscow), the Perm, Novosibirsk and Buryat Opera and Ballet Theatres, etc. Maestros Peter Feranec, Ilmar Lapins, Dmitri Yurovski, Andrei Shlyachkov, Dmitri Volosnikov will be at the conductor's stand.

The festival will be opened by the premiere of the Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s “Eugene Onegin” opera. Neeme Kuningas, the principal director of the theatre, the production designer Ervin Iuunapuu (Estonia), costume director Anna Kontek (Finland) are working on the new version of the performance.

The opening performance of the “Raphael” opera by Anton Arensky will be a real gift for classical opera lovers. It’ll be performed as a part of the program “Forgotten Names” of the Lyubov Kazarnovskaya’s foundation. The opera diva herself will take part in the opening shows on February 9 and 10.

Besides, the best examples of the Russian classics will be performed during the festival: “Boris Godunov” by Modest Mussorgsky, “Sadko”, “The Tsar's Bride” and “The Snow Maiden” by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, “Prince Igor” by Alexander Borodin, “Iolanta” and “The Queen of Spades” by Pyotr Tchaikovsky.

The festival “Stars Parade in the Opera” will be concluded with the traditional gala concert - the soloists of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre as well as the festival’s guest artists will take part in it.
