The Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre to come to Krasnoyarsk on tour

The Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre is going to tour in Krasnoyarsk and perform its productions on the stage of The Hvorostovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre in April 2023. The Saint Petersburg Theatre will present ballets based on the Russian literature classics: Anna Karenina and Eugene Onegin. The tickets are already on sale.

Boris Eifman's ballet based on the eponymous novel by Leo Tolstoy - Anna Karenina - will be performed in Krasnoyarsk on 19 and 20 April.

Eifman considers ballet to be a special area for the realization of psychological dramas, which makes it possible to penetrate into the subconscious. His Anna Karenina is full of inner psychological energy. Having removed the subplots of Leo Tolstoy's novel, the choreographer focused on the love triangle "Anna - Karenin - Vronsky". By means of the body plasticity, Eifman conveyed the drama of a woman who became a new person. According to the choreographer, it was passion, the "basic instinct" that led the characters of the ballet to the offenses against social convention, destroyed maternal love and Anna's inner peace. A woman, absorbed and crushed by sensual attraction, is ready to make any sacrifice. The choreographer notes that his ballet is about the present day, it’s not about a past era: the timeless emotional content of the performance and direct parallels with the modern age do not leave spectators cold.

The production of Eugene Onegin will be presented on the Krasnoyarsk stage on April 21 and 22. In this choreographic version of the novel in verse by Alexander Pushkin, Eifman also combined classics and modernity. Pushkin's characters have been turned into iconic heroes of our time, who have passed through an alarming era of change while living at the turn of the century. An unexpected combination of works by Pyotr Tchaikovsky and rock music by composer Alexander Sitkovetsky allows the audience to be deeply imbued with the idea of the choreographer.

Tickets for the performances of the Boris Eifman Ballet Theatre Anna Karenina and Eugene Onegin can be purchased at the theatre box office (opening hours daily from 10:00 to 20:00), on the website https://krasopera.ru and on the platforms of ticket operators.
