On September 13, the opera Yermak by Alexander Tchaikovsky will officially open the 42nd season of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. And already in the first autumn weekend, the theatre will present productions that introduce the world of opera to young and adult spectators and reveal the secrets of theatrical backstage.

The work on the immersive performance The Journey of the Magic Flute to the music of  Mozart is in full swing at the Krasnoyarsk Opera House. The authors of the project are the director of the musical theatre Natalia Anastasyeva and screenwriter Yekaterina Pospelova; they both work in the field of theatre pedagogics. The students of the children's opera studio under the direction of Natalia Tsyupa will take the stage along with the adult theatre’s singers and the orchestra’s musicians.  The Journey of the Magic Flute is a light version of the Mozart’s opera.

“The project is conceived to foster children's interest in art. This opera is a good case in point to show children how the world works, and what the music theatre (in no small part - opera) is. The educational information will be intertwined with conversational dialogues of the Magic Flute fairy tale. Spectators will be involved in the theatrical process: learning by heart and even performing small fragments of Mozart’s melodies along with the artists, creating small elements of stage-props,” says Natalia Anastasyeva.

Last season in May, Krasnoyarsk spectators already had the chance to see the immersive performance production of Natalia - the tour in the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre named Orpheus Way.

Both performances are parts of the programme of the children's theatre project, which includes festivals Theatre Syndrome. Children's World held by the Mikhail Prokhorov Foundation, and Language of the World taking place in the Krasnoyarsk Youth Theatre between the 2nd and 11th of September. The Magic Flute Travel show will take place on September 7 at 14:00 on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre; the Orpheus Way tour is scheduled for September 8 at 11:00.
