The Opera and Ballet Theatre will present an interactive project about Orpheus and Eurydice at the Theatre Night

An exciting quest to save Eurydice, the lover of the ancient Greek singer Orpheus, is prepared for the guests of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on the night of March 23.

The plot and musical basis for the bright and funny (but laced with horror!) event named Saving Eurydice will be based on two famous works: Christoph Willibald Gluck’s opera Orpheus and Eurydice and Jacques Offenbach’s operetta Orphée aux Enfers (Orpheus in the Underworld). This “mixture” is directed by Daniil Dmitriev. According to his words, guests of the Theatre Night will find themselves in opera “heaven” and “hell”, where exciting events will take place.

Everything will begin in the foyer of the ground floor of the Theatre: there, Orpheus will tell the audience about his feelings; he and all those gathered will learn that not everything is lost, but in order to save Eurydice he’ll need to go down to the kingdom of Hades. That’s where everyone will follow him visiting various locations on this thorny but amusing musical path, which will be located in the foyer on all the floors of the Theatre. There you can listen to devilish Furies singing, communicate with spirits, apply infernal makeup to your face, see scenes of operatic murders, take part in the Charon’s quiz (a guide to the afterlife), and receive good prizes.

And as a result - descend to the kingdom of Hades! Those who come to the Krasnoyarsk Opera House on the Theatre Night will find out what will happen down there in hell. The famous fiery cancan from the operetta Orphée aux Enfers will conclude the event.
