Premier danseur of the Bolshoi Theatre held master classes for Krasnoyarsk ballet dancers

Honoured Artist of Russia, premier danseur of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Mikhail Lobukhin held a series of master classes and rehearsals for the ballet company of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.

Mikhail Lobukhin was born in Leningrad. In 2002, he graduated from the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet with honours (the class of Boris Bregvadze) and joined the ballet company of the Mariinsky Theatre.  From 2010 up to the present day, he has been a principal dancer of the Bolshoi Ballet Company, disciple of the legendary dancers, choreographers, and teachers Mikhail Lavrovsky and Valery Lagunov. The dancer's repertoire includes leading roles in the ballets Le Corsaire, Spartacus, Raymonda, Romeo and Juliet, Don Quixote, La Bayadère, and many others.

Mikhail Lobukhin shared his skills with the dancers of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.

“I was invited by Artistic Director of the ballet company of the Krasnoyarsk Theatre Anna Zharova to help the artists prepare for the new season. I held daily morning classes with them. At first, the guys had a hard time because each teacher has its individual coaching style, but gradually our team hit the full stride. In addition, Anna Alexandrovna asked me to rehearse several ballet scenes for the upcoming gala concert. For instance, the final scene of the first act of the ballet Spartacus - a scene in the barracks, in which the protagonist calls on his comrades to start an uprising. We are working with the soloist Matvey Nikishaev and the corps de ballet dancers. We also rehearse the trio dance of the ballet Le Corsaire with several principal dancers. Besides, I plan to support the dancers by performing the legendary duet of Phrygia and Spartacus along with Anna Zharova at a gala concert,” said Mikhail Lobukhin.

On September 22 and 23, the 46th theatrical season of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will officially open with a large-scale gala concert. Its programme comprises opera and ballet scenes including excerpts from the ballets Spartacus by Aram Khachaturian and Le Corsaire by Adolf Adam.
