September 2023: opera and ballet debuts

In September, the artists of the opera and ballet companies will present to the audience several new debuts in the productions of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The first ballet of the 46th season (September 9 and 10) will be Catarina ou la Fille du Bandit to the music of Cesare Pugni. Sunday night on September 10 will especially be important for Oleksiy Skalyun: for the first time, he will appear on the stage in the complex and spectacular role of Diavolino. On September 9, Yekaterina Kanyukova and Ruslan Abolmasov will debut as a robber and gondolier (they both are graduates of the Krasnoyarsk Choreography College in 2023), Nadezhda Panfilova (on September 9) and Alexandra Ermicheva (on September 10) as gondoliers. On September 9, a principal dancer of the ballet company Olesya Aldonina will appear in the role of a robber in the pas-de-quatre of Catarina's friends.

The ballet to the music of contemporary composers Dante's Catharsis closed the previous season. On September 15, the show will again be presented at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre with a slightly different cast: for the first time, Georgy Bolsunovsky will appear on the stage as the Prince, Yuri Romanchuk as the Hero.

There are also debuts in operas. On September 16, bass singer Dmitry Ryabtsev will perform the part of Minstrel in the one-act production Zanetto. Tenor Valentin Kolesnikov (Vaudemont), baritone Denis Grechishkin (Duke Robert), and mezzo-soprano Natalia Plotnikova (Marta) will make their debuts in Pyotr Tchaikovsky's masterpiece Iolanta on September 24. These performances are good reasons to visit the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in September.
