The Krasnoyarsk Opera at the Teatralnaya Vesna Festival

The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Named After D.A.Hvorstovsky will take part in the annual regional festival “Teatralnaya Vesna”. Its programme consists of the best musical, puppet and dramatic performances of the regional state and municipal theatres.

Teatralnaya VesnaMore than 50 theatres from Krasnoyarsk, Sharypovo, Achinsk, Minusinsk, Kansk, Motygino, Lesosibirsk, Norilsk and Zheleznogorsk left an application for taking part in the festival - the 21 best performances were chosen from them.

This year the festival’s programme includes two performances of the Krasnoyarsk Opera - the César Cui's opera "The Prisoner of the Caucasus" directed by Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Bobrov and Neeme Kuningas (Estonia). The show will take place on March 21, 2018. This performance was shown not only in Krasnoyarsk, but also in Moscow. Besides, the opera was awarded with the prestigious national opera award "Onegin".

On March 24, the ballet “La Sylphide” by Herman Løvenskiold will be as well performed as a part of the festival. “That’s great our theatre’s repertoire includes “La Sylphide”, - says Natalia Matus-Marchuk, artistic director of the ballet company, - “Its style can be useful for our dancers - the choreography of August Bournonville fosters them in movements, in images, poses. In the ballet there is a certain style that enforces the artists’ self-discipline. And this applies to everything - the tilt of the head, the slightest movement of a finger... That’s very useful for honing skills”.

The Teatralnaya Vesna Festival started on March 16 with the "Theatre Night” event. It’ll end on March 27 with the honouring of laureates, who will be awarded with "Crystal Masks" for the best creative work. The founders of the festival are the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region and the regional branch of the Union of Theatre Workers of the Russian Federation.
