AI Opera Dreams expands its format

The concert AI Opera Dreams, which explores how artificial intelligence imagines famous operas, is now open to everyone — not just holders of the Pushkin Card, as was the case when the project first launched.

As it turns out, the intersection of opera and AI has captured the interest of audiences of all ages, not only younger viewers. Tickets for AI Opera Dreams are now available to the general public. The event will also be presented in a more intimate, chamber setting—an “art café” format.

To recap, the project offers a glimpse into how a virtual assistant might “see” and “retell” classic operatic stories. Modern algorithms generate images from so-called digital noise, gradually shaping form, color, and emotion out of apparent chaos. This process is strikingly similar to human dreaming: the brain, too, weaves together memories and impressions to create new images and narratives. What the audience ultimately experiences is not a straightforward illustration, but rather a kind of machine “dream” inspired by opera — a fresh attempt to view classical works through the lens of the 21st-century technology.

The concert programme features beloved operatic characters brought to life through some of the most beautiful melodies in the repertoire: Don Giovanni, Tatiana, Onegin, Figaro, Prince Igor, Carmen, Lakmé, and many other iconic figures.
