The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre’s soloist Anna Fedosova won the prestigious Soul of Dance award of the professional federal magazine Ballet in the nominated category Rising Star.

This professional award was established in 1994 by the respected magazine Ballet along with the Ministry of Culture of Russia. It is awarded to national culture figures for their achievements in the development of the country's choreographic art. Over the years, the Soul of Dance award has become a symbol of Russian choreography; receiving this prestigious professional award is ballet dancers’ dream.

“So far, the Soul of Dance is the most significant award for me. It is very pleasant to receive recognition from the magazine Ballet along with the artists of the Bolshoi and Mariinsky theatres! It’s an incentive to further work. Thanks to my theatre and my teachers for believing in me!”  Anna Fedosova shares her emotions.

We add that four more dancers from different theatres of the country became laureates in the Rising Star category. They are Denis Zakharov (the Bolshoi Theatre), Maria Khoreva (the Mariinsky Theatre), Yekaterina Pervushina (the Kremlin Ballet Theatre), Artiom Vedenkin (the Eric Sapaev Mari Opera and Ballet Theatre).

As the editorial team of the magazine noted, the awarding of the Krasnoyarsk ballerina was influenced by her participation in the 4th season of the show competition Bolshoi Ballet of the Kultura TV channel, which was broadcasted throughout the country in November and December 2020. Recall that Anna performed in a show in tandem with the principal dancer of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Marcello Pelizzoni: they were awarded a special jury prize.

The gala concert of the winners and the award ceremony will take place at the Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Music Theatre in Moscow on April 30. Anna is going to perform a variation of Russian Dance from the ballet Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky (choreography by Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Bobrov). Anna performed the same piece in the solo programme of the competition show Bolshoi Ballet on the Kultura TV channel.
