Soloist of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, Davit Yesayan won a diploma and a special prize of the Buryat Opera and Ballet Theatre at the 3rd Baikal International Vocal Competition.
In the first qualifying round, artists were offered to perform works by Russian composers of the 18th-19th centuries. Davit chose Sergei Rachmaninov’s romance I am Again Alone and Lensky’s aria from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin. In the second round, he performed the arias of Chatterton (the opera Chatterton by Ruggero Leoncavallo) and Pinkerton (the opera Madama Butterfly by Giacomo Puccini).
“It is necessary to participate in such competitions. On the first hand, it’s very useful for professional advancement: you listen to other participants and take note of their achievements, communicate with the jury and realize what tasks you should set for yourself and on what shortcomings you are to work in the future. On the other hand, this is good psychological training for people of art. While performing at your home theatre, you feel the support of colleagues. At the competition, responsibility and excitement are much stronger: you are alone on the stage and must do everything possible to convincу the jury”, Davit Yesayan said.
It’s worth reminding that the Lensky’s part of the opera Eugene Onegin let Davit become the laureate of the Theatre Spring-2019 regional festival.
59 talented performers from Russia, Mongolia, China and South Korea competed at the Baikal International Vocal Competition. Among other members of the Jury, there was Larisa Marzoeva - People’s Artist of Russia, artistic director of the opera company of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. The special prize Davit Yesayan received includes the participation in the performance of the Buryat Opera and Ballet Theatre.
