Debuts December 2021: Prince Igor and The Sleeping Beauty

The performances of Prince Igor and The Sleeping Beauty will take place on the stage of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in the second half of December 2021, and they can be called unique due to a considerable number of significant debuts.

The opera Prince Igor, a landmark for the theatre, will become a landmark for Ivan Velikanov, too: On December 16, he is to take the conductor’s stand at this opera by Alexander Borodin for the first time. Besides, Ivan plans to restore the overture that previously was very much abridged.

Beloved and familiar artists will come to stage in these parts: Alexey Bocharov (as Prince Igor), Svetlana Ratslaf-Levchuk (as Yaroslavna), Valentin Kolesnikov (as Vladimir), Olga Basova (as Konchakovna), Ilya Krivchikov (as Khan Konchak). And on December 17, the cast will include new vocalists: Pavel Antsiferov (as Prince Igor), Davit Yesayan (as Vladimir), Victoria Kangina (as Konchakovna), Karina Radzion (as Polovtsian girl).

“I have long imagined myself in the role of Prince Igor. I am working on this amazing part with great enthusiasm. It’s not easy because Borodin’s opera is a significant Russian music work of a large scale. It is a big challenge for me both as a singer and as an actor. But I surely can handle it and I can prove to be a performer of the first roles. I’m looking forward to the performance!” Pavel Antsiferov shared his emotions.

There’s also a ballet debut in Prince Igor: for the first time, Daniil Kostylev will perform the role of Kuman in Polovtsian Dances.

Ballet fans should pay attention to other debutants: in Pyotr Tchaikovsky's The Sleeping Beauty, Philip Arzhanov (as Desiree), Elena Mikheecheva, Anastasia Belonogova (as Aurora), Chitose Tsuchia (as Florina) will for the first time appear on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in the waning days of the year - December 29, 30 and 31. The night on December 29 will be unique for a 2021 graduate of the Krasnoyarsk Choreography School Lolita Moshkova: for the first time, she will perform a spectacular solo part - the Lilac Fairy.
