Eugene Onegin: three new debuts

There’s an extra reason to attend the April 26 performance of Eugene Onegin at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre: three opera company soloists will be making their debuts that night.

Victoria Maslyukova will take on the role of Tatiana for the first time—a defining role for any soprano singer and the opera’s central female part.

Igor Petryakov will debut as Monsieur Triquet, the character who performs playful couplets at Tatiana’s name-day celebration.

For Dmitri Bartashkin, a young bass singer who recently joined the Krasnoyarsk opera company, this will be his first time performing one of opera’s most beloved arias, “All Ages Are Subject to Love”, in the role of Prince Gremin, Tatyana’s husband.

The Onegin debutants will also appear in the April performances of Rigoletto: Igor Petryakov will sing the roles of the Officer (April 3 and 4) and Matteo Borsa (April 5), while Dmitri Bartashkin will appear as the assassin Sparafucile (April 5).
