On September 25, the jury of the I2nd Feodor Chaliapin International Singing Competition announced the winners. The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre’s soloist Eugeny Sevastianov won the Second Prize.
The competition was held between September 20-25 in Ufa. Nearly forty artists from Russia, Mongolia, Georgia, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Spain participated in it; only sixteen of them reached the final of the competition. The jury chaired by the Mariinsky Theatre soloist Askar Abdrazakov decided not to award anyone the first prize. A basso cantante singer of the Krasnoyarsk Opera Eugeny Sevastianov was awarded not only the Second Prize of the competition but also received a special award for the best performance of the romance by Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Also, the mezzo-soprano soloist of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Marina Kipingan was awarded the special prize of the Elena Obraztsova International Academy of Music.
