Immersive sound show to set the tone for the ballet Pushkin

On March 13, 14, and 15, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre will present a major theatrical event—the world premiere of the ballet Pushkin choreographed by Nikita Dmitrievsky to music by Konstantin Borisov. Even before the curtain rises, audiences will be welcomed by a sound installation in the theatre foyer.

According to Dmitrievsky, the atmospheric audio performance will weave together fragments of musical phrases and excerpts from the poetry of Alexander Pushkin. The musical component has been created by the ballet’s composer, Konstantin Borisov. The installation is designed to tune both the conscious and subconscious mind, preparing audiences to enter the inner world of Pushkin—an immersion that shaped not only the performance itself, but also the creative process for everyone involved.

“I’m very aware of how far removed we all are—even the performers—from the true scale of Pushkin’s genius. Every line he wrote is more than just rhyme; it’s a layered fabric of historical and symbolic meaning. This production is our attempt to convey that scale,” says Nikita Dmitrievsky.
