January 2022: New year – new debuts

In the very first days of the new 2022, artists will present their versions of opera and ballet roles to the audience in the performances of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.

On January 8, Vasily Korsar (as Tsar Berendey) and Larisa Plotnikova (as Bobylikha) will debut in Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's fairytale opera The Snow Maiden.

It is important to note that in January, young artists who have joined the company of the Krasnoyarsk Opera House only this season will come to the stage in opera performances

For example, Karina Radzion will appear in the role of Lel in The Snow Maiden for the first time. Karina was born in Russia, she lived in Israel for several years, graduated from the Rubin Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, was a dancer of the opera studio at the Israeli Opera in Tel Aviv, won the Jerusalem International Opera Competition (2020) and the 1st  Alexandrovich International Vocal Competition in Israel (2016).

Viktoria Kangina will make her debut on the Krasnoyarsk stage in Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera Eugene Onegin on January 20. In December 2021, Victoria performed the role of Konchakovna and the viola part in Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas Oratorio and the Messiah oratorio by Georg Friedrich Handel (the Christmas of Old Europe concert). Victoria studied at the Faculty of Music Theatre Arts of the Russian Institute of Theatre Arts, aswell as at the Gnesins Russian Academy of Music. She’s a laureate of several international and Russian competitions (he Ivanov International Vocal Competition, the Crimean Spring international competition, etc.)

Ilya Markov will perform the parts of Company Commander and Zaretsky in Eugene Onegin on January 20. Ilya graduated from the Rimsky-Korsakov Music College (St. Petersburg). The young bass singer has recently auditioned for the part of Dr. Bartolo in a joint project of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre and Hvorostovsky Siberian Institute of Arts - production of the Mozart's opera Le Nozze di Figaro.

On Old-New Year day, an excellent gift for the audience will be a spectacular performance of Karl Orff’s Carmina Burana (January 12 and 13), which has not been staged in Krasnoyarsk for 3 years. Several debuts of the ballet company principal dancers will also be presented here: Elena Mikheecheva (Bride), Chitose Tsuchiya (Girl), Daniil Kostylev (Dictator). In Adolphe Adam's ballet Giselle, Chitose Tsuchiya will appear on the stage in a pas-de-deux of Wilis; Oleg Ronsky will dance the role of the Duke.
