Krasnoyarsk ballet fans will see the updated version of Romeo and Juliet

In the workshops of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, the restoration of costumes and stage design elements of Sergei Prokofiev's ballet Romeo and Juliet was carried out. Krasnoyarsk residents will be able to see the updated ballet on March 31, April 1 and 2.

Its premiere (choreography and libretto by Artistic Director of the theatre Sergei Bobrov) took place back in July 2005.

“The show was extremely popular, it had run in Krasnoyarsk for 16 years, it toured the cities of Russia and many other countries. The costumes and stage set worn out noticeably, it was decided to bring them their luxurious original appearance back - the same as it was at the premiere. Everything has been updated: dresses, hats, shoes, props. Our masters did a great job because the details of the costumes - lace, ribbons, ornaments - were sewn by hand,” - comments Natalia Bobrova, a principal dancer of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre who performs the part of Juliet.

Natalia will take the stage on April 2, her Romeo will be danced Georgy Bolsunovsky. On March 31 and April 1, Anna Fedosova and Kirill Litvinenko, Elena Svinko and Marcello Pelizzoni will perform the title roles of young lovers, respectively.

In addition to the updated stage set, spectators of Romeo and Juliet will see a bunch of new first roles of the famous theatre’s dancers. Debutants of April 1: Mercutio - Oleksi Skaliun, Capulet - Georgy Botenkov, Nurse - Ksenia Lyapina. April 2: Tybalt - Matvey Nikishaev, Mother of the Capulet - Anna Fedosova, Soul of Mercutio - Anastasia Nigmatulina.
