The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre and a charity foundation The Boomerang of Kindness run the traditional New Year and Christmas campaign named Grant a Theatre Ticket. The campaign will end on January 31, 2022.
In the tickets booking hall, there is a beautiful Christmas tree installed. It’s decorated with real toys as well as Christmas balls with names written on them - the names of those who most need New Year's gifts: children from poor families, orphans, disabled people, retirees from a retirement home... They often can’t afford to attend a theatre performance. There will be more than a hundred balls with the names there.
Any spectator can take part in the charity campaign. They need to remove any ball from the Christmas tree, buy a ticket for any performance of the theatre’s repertoire for the participant whose name is written on it, and leave the ball with the ticket at the booking office. With the help of the Boomerang of Kindness Foundation staff, the ticket will be delivered to the addressee; the theatre will also book a free seat for an accompanying person.
The Krasnoyarsk Opera House conducts the New Year campaign Grant a Theatre Ticket along with the Boomerang of Goodness fund for the fourth time. Concerned Krasnoyarsk citizens bought and granted about 1000 tickets during previous campaigns.
Moreover, the Giuseppe Verdi’s Requiem was performed on February 2, 2018 - the performance was dedicated to Dmitri Hvorostovsky; and philanthropists helped teachers and students of music schools #4 and #1 (where the artist studied), as well as students of the Krasnoyarsk College and the Institute of Arts, visit the show. And at the joint charity marathon Art for Life, more than 800 thousand roubles were raised - they were used to cure diseased children.
