Opera soloist and teacher Svetlana Efremova celebrates her anniversary

Honoured Artist of Russia, soprano Svetlana Efremova, who has devoted 30 years to the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, is celebrating a milestone anniversary. A festive tribute concert will take place in the Small Concert Hall of the Hvorostovsky Institute of Arts on 26 September.

Sharing the stage to congratulate Svetlana will be theatre soloists Anatoly Berezin (People’s Artist of Russia), Eugeny Baldanov (Honoured Artist of the Krasnoyarsk Territory), Andrey Kolobov, as well as Efremova’s former students Elena Tereshchenko (the Krasnoyarsk Musical Theatre) and Alla Zharova (the Zheleznogorsk Operetta Theatre). Current students and graduates of her class will also take part. The programme includes arias from Russian and international operas, romance and art songs.

Originally from the Yamal region, Svetlana Efremova graduated with honours from the Mussorgsky Ural Conservatory in 1975. She made her debut as Tatiana in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin during her final state exam at the Perm Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre and was immediately invited to join it's opera company. After six seasons in Perm, she moved in 1981 to the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, where she became a leading lyric-dramatic soprano. Over nearly three decades she performed about 30 leading and solo roles from both the classical and contemporary repertoire, as well as an extensive chamber programme.

Today Svetlana Efremova is a highly respected teacher and mentor. She serves as Associate Professor in the Faculty of Solo Singing and Opera Training at the Hvorostovsky Institute of Arts, teaches at the Ivanov-Radkevich Krasnoyarsk College of Arts, and is the artistic director and vocal coach of the Academic Singing Studio at the House of Officers.
