The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre dedicates ballet shows of January to the great Galina Ulanova

The 110th birthday anniversary of the outstanding ballerina Galina Ulanova is celebrated on January 8, 2020: all the January ballet performances in the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera House are dedicated to this prominent Russian artist of the ballet art.

The prima ballerina of the Kirov Leningrad Opera and Ballet Theatre Galina Ulanova is the most titled ballerina in Russia: People's Artist of the USSR, twice Hero of Socialist Labour, winner of the Lenin and Stalin Prizes and the Russian President's award. Her fame resounded not only throughout the Soviet Union but also around the world. At the age of 45, the ballerina performed the role of Juliet in front of Queen Elizabeth in England: the ovation after the performance lasted at least half an hour, as witnesses of the event say.

In her lifetime, Galina Ulanova danced more than 30 ballet roles, many of which are considered exemplary today. On January 8, the Adolf Adam's ballet Giselle was presented at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. Years ago, the title role in this ballet became the pinnacle of the Galina Ulanova's acting skills.

In January, Krasnoyarsk citizens will have the opportunity to watch two more ballets, at which Galina Ulanova previously shone. These are Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus (January 12 at 18: 00) and La Sylphide by Herman von Løvenskiold (January 29 at 19: 00).
