Within the Russian theatres touring programme Big Tours, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will present two performances in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan. The events will take place on November 29 and December 1. Classical music fans will see Alexander Borodin's Prince Igor opera and Alexander Glazunov's Raymonda ballet.
These tours can be called a return visit: On October 23 and 25, the Astana Opera Theatre performed the Eugene Onegin opera by Pyotr Tchaikovsky in Krasnoyarsk as part of the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Festival. This large-scale cultural event - the Festival - was held in Krasnoyarsk for the first time in October 2019. Note that the Krasnoyarsk performing of Raymonda will also be a part of the festivities: On December 1, the country celebrates the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Nursultan Nazarbayev.
Prince Igor is a landmark performance for the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. It opened the first theatre’s season 41 years ago, in 1978. The premiere of the production the theatre’s team offers to Kazakh music lovers took place in June 2013 and was dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the theatre. A magnificent line-up of performers will appear on the stage this evening: Alexei Bocharov (Prince Igor), Honoured Artist of Russia Svetlana-Ratslaf-Levchuk, Honoured Artist of Buryatia Mikhail Pirogov (Vladimir), laureate of international competitions Vladimir Alexandrovich (Prince Galitsky), laureate of international competitions, the Golden Mask 2020 nominee Daria Ryabinko (Konchakovna), Ilya Krivchikov (Konchak).
In 2018, the premiere of the Raymonda ballet was the most notable event of the 5th International Ballet Forum Ballet XXI Century dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Marius Petipa. In the tour performance, the protagonists’ parts will be danced by young stars of the Hvorostovsky Opera and Ballet Theatre, laureates of international competitions Elena Svinko (Raymonda) and Yuri Kudryavtsev (Jean de Brienne). Yegor Osokin will perform the part of Abderakhman. He won the Crystal Mask for performing this role - the prize of the Theater Spring 2019 Festival.
