The Krasnoyarsk Opera House has held the auditions for the opera Le Nozze di Figaro

The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre arranged the auditions for the opera Le Nozze di Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Theatre artists and students of the Hvorostovsky Siberian State Institute of Arts took part in the event.

The casting jury included representatives of the Russian-German Academy of Music, conductor Paolo Bressan, opera singer and teacher Ferdinand von Bothmer, Artistic Director of the international cultural organization RCCR Projects Nikolaus Rexroth, and Honoured Artist of Russia Vera Baranova - soloist of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, professor, Artistic Director of the project Le Nozze di Figaro.

At the Institute of Arts, Paolo Bressan, Ferdinand von Bothmer, and Nikolaus Rexroth held master classes within the project “The Educational and Creative Cluster of Yenisei Siberia: on the occasion of the 60th birthday of the People's Artist of the Russian Federation Dmitri Hvorostovsky”. The invited experts helped the students of the Solo Singing and Opera Training Department, the symphony orchestra of the Institute, and the soloists of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in the mastering of the music material of the opera Le Nozze di Figaro, as well as in preparing for the casting auditions.

As a result of the project, students and professional musicians from three Russian regions (the Krasnoyarsk Region, the Republic of Khakassia, and the Republic of Tyva), as well as Germany and Italy will unite to create a project in memory of Dmitri Hvorostovsky. Experts will select three casts of soloists out of 38 singers; the winners participate in the project. The show Le Nozze di Figaro is planned for June 2022.

“This is a great chance for each participant to grow professionally and have a look at their future career,” emphasized Natalia Agakhanova, director of the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Art Development Foundation.

The project is being carried out with the support of the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, the Russian-German Academy of Music, the Ministry of Culture of the Krasnoyarsk Region, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Khakassia, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tyva, the Dmitri Hvorostovsky Art Development Foundation.
