The Krasnoyarsk Opera House opens its 42nd season in September

On September 13, the opera Yermak by Alexander Tchaikovsky will open the season 42 of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. The opera was performed for three times at the end of the previous season; all the performances enjoyed success.

It's worth reminding that the Yermak opera was written specifically for the Krasnoyarsk Opera House. The story of the opera is based upon the Vasily Surikov’s creating of the canvas The Conquest of Siberia by Yermak Timofeyevich. The famous historical figures come to the stage: Kuchum Khan, Ivan the Terrible, Maria Nagaya, Barons Stroganovs, Nicholas II of Russia, Gilyarovsky, Leo Tolstoy, and many others.

The production team of high professionalism took part in staging the opera. The theatre ordered the music from the famous modern composer Alexander Tchaikovsky and the libretto from writer and poet Dmitri Makarov. The opera was directed by Artistic Director of the Natalya Sats Musical Theatre Georgy Isaakian.  Honoured Artist of Russia Valery Platonov was invited to take part in the staging as a music director and a conductor. The theatre’s workshops created about 300 costumes appropriate for the epoch in which the performance takes place. The performance involves more than 40 opera soloists, the choir and the ballet company of the theatre. As a result, spectators can see the fascinating, historically reliable and spectacular musical production.

The convivial atmosphere of the evening on the 13th of September will be enlarged by photo zones dedicated to the four premiere performances of the previous season - the ballet Raymonda by Alexander Glazunov, the opera The Marriage of Figaro by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Les Mamelles de Tirésias by Francis Poulenc, and Yermak by Alexander Tchaikovsky. Before the performance and during an intermission, spectators can make spectacular photos.
