The new version of the opera of G. Verdi "La Traviata" is submitted by the Krasnoyarsk state opera and ballet theatre. On original interpretation of the performance based on Aleksander Dumas son's novel "The lady with camellias" worked the tandem known to the Krasnoyarsk viewer – the production director Nadezhda Stolbova and the musical director, the conductor Dmitry Volosnikov (Moscow).

"Traviata" – one of the best Giuseppe Verdi's work, and now seems almost improbable that one of the most popular operas in the world hasn't been accepted at the premiere. In due time the novel "The Lady with Camellias" which main character was a courtesan, has caused outburst of indignation. People in Paris threw out books from windows – why they, such decent citizens, have spent time and money for the book about the fallen woman! The plot of the novel was so "courageous" that censorship long time didn't allow it to stage on scene.

The premiere of "Traviata" has taken place on March 6, 1853 in La Fenice theatre, and it was the failure. The opera telling about the real people living now with the real problems moreover and about love of the courtesan and young man became shock for the viewer. The public has appreciated not at once and has fallen in love with this work, and critics long time considered him disgusting and immoral.

"We aren't going to do historical "Traviata", but there is a strong wish to take his atmosphere from original work, to understand and give feelings which his heroes have, – the production director Nadezhda Stolbova tells. – We don't use external attributes of the present, we want to show history which is actual at all times and eras. As well as one and a half-two centuries ago, and today people are ready to sell themselves to reach some material benefits, situation in society".

One of features of the Krasnoyarsk statement that the main character in itr will be different age it will allow the public which has come to the opera in this or that day to see in fact different performances in which some semantic accents will differ very significantly. "With young Violetta everything is clear, – Nadezhda Stolbova says. – But the story with Violetta of more mature age brings this subject to the maximum, increases her degree not on hundred, and for two hundred percent. Because for such Violetta a meeting with Alfred – the last chance to fall in love and be darling".

Action of the opera will happen in one of rooms of the half-ruined house. The art director of performance Vera Martynova (the winner of the award "Gold Mask" (2010) in the nomination "The Best Theatre Artist", the art director "Gogol center") I have thought up space which has no historical definiteness, but creates the atmosphere of abandonment and. And this external neglect of once beautiful space is also reflection of internal life of Violetta.

"The performance will leave on the big scene, but we have consciously created the atmosphere of room space that the audience could experience more sharply the original feelings proceeding from actors, – Dmitry Volosnikov says. – In this scenic history the viewer will understand the smallest nuances, the movements, the word".

The premiere of the opera will take place for June 8, 9 and 10.
