The international opera festival Slovtsov. Postscriptum will crank up with the premiere performances of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera Oprichnik at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on January 21, 2023. And it’ll end with the Slovtsov Gala concert on April 16, 2023. The tickets are already on sale.
This concert will sum up the results of the festival: its programme will include vocal and instrumental fragments from the operas performed during the Slovtsov. Postscriptum: Oprichnik, Eugene Onegin, The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Aida by Giuseppe Verdi, Lakme by Leo Delibes. All these works are recognized internationally as masterpieces of the world opera art; they all are included in the repertoire of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.
Besides, arias and duets included in the repertoire of Pyotr Slovtsov and Margarita Rioli-Slovtsova will be performed. 100 years ago, in 1923, these outstanding artists and teachers organized the first opera troupe in the Krasnoyarsk Governorate. This is how the Krasnoyarsk school of opera singing started to develop, the result of which turned out to be truly outstanding: from Margarita Nikolaevna Rioli-Slovtsova to Yekaterina Konstantinovna Iofel who taught Dmitri Alexandrovich Hvorostovsky.
Maestro Dmitri Yurovsky, Artistic Director and conductor of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, chief conductor of the Royal Flemish Opera in Antwerp and Ghent, will direct and conduct the Slovtsov Gala concert.
The following soloists of the opera company of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre (including Mikhail Pirogov) and guest vocalists will take the stage: Anastasia Lepeshinskaya (The New Opera Theatre, Moscow), Kristina Gontsa (The Mariinsky Theatre), Garry Agadzhanyan (The Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre). All three of them have already performed on our stage: Garry took part in the festival Stars Parade at the Opera, Anastasia and Christina were members of the opera company. Anastasia and Christina also belong to the Krasnoyarsk vocal school: they both are graduates of the Hvorostovsky Siberian Institute of Arts.
