A musical tale of love in the age of gadgets to be staged at the KRAZ Opera

On March 6, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre will present the opera production He, She and the Telephone at its new venue, KRAZ Opera.

“Two operas in one evening” is how director Daniil Dmitriev describes the project. The production brings together two one-act works: La Voix Humaine by Francis Poulenc and The Telephone by Gian Carlo Menotti. The characters in both stories are linked by a fragile yet powerful device of the 21st century — the telephone.

In the first opera, a woman tries to sort out her relationship with a former lover she once loved passionately. In the second one, a young man struggles to declare his feelings because the girl he adores is constantly distracted. In La Voix Humaine, the telephone becomes the only connection between two people; in The Telephone, it stands in the way of what may be life’s most important and beautiful moment.

How will these stories end? Will the telephone help restore the connection between the lovers — or sever it for good?

The Theatre invites audiences on March 6 at 7:00 p.m. to the Metallurgists Palace of Culture and Sports (KRAZ Cultural Center) to discover the answers and experience an evening full of vivid еmоtions.
