A night of Russian romance songs at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre

On November 14, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will host a concert dedicated to the art of the Russian vocal miniature.

The programme, titled I Met You, will feature some of the finest examples of the Russian romance genre from the 19th and 20th centuries — works by Mikhail Glinka, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Alexander Varlamov, Alexander Alyabyev, Leonid Malashkin, Georgy Sviridov, Sergei Rachmaninoff, and others. The literary inspiration for many of these romance art songs comes primarily from the poetry of Alexander Pushkin, as well as Alexey Apukhtin, Lev Mey, Anton Delvig, Alexey Tolstoy, Afanasy Fet, and 20th-century poets.

Performing on stage will be true masters of Russian lyrical song — soloists of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre including Honoured Artists of Russia Vera Baranova and Anna Kiseliova, along with Eugeny Baldanov, Alexander Mikhaliov, Anna Kharitonova, Elena Nikutina, and others.

At the piano: Natalia Sobinkova, Elena Chepurnaya, and Svetlana Mikhaliova.
A special highlight of the concert will be a string ensemble featuring the theatre’s orchestra soloists: Dmitri Kosolapov (violin), Alisa Kharmats (violin), Irina Lazukova (violin), Yekaterina Kovalenko (viola), Yekaterina Egoshina (cello), and Alexander Bryukhov (double bass).
