On November 21, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will celebrate the grand opening of its second stage — located at the Metallurgists' Palace of Culture and Sports, Telman Street, 30.
The opening event will feature the announcement of the new venue’s playbill and the theatre’s plans for the coming months. That same evening, at 7:00 p.m., audiences will enjoy the first concert in the Maestro Invites series, followed by the Art Café project concert Femmes Fatales at 9:00 p.m. in the dance hall.
“Art will now be closer to home. The Sovetsky District is the largest in our city, and we are taking an unprecedented step towards its residents,” said Svetlana Guziy, Chief Executive of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. “The Metallurgists' Palace of Culture and Sports is still known as the KRAZ Palace of Culture (the KRAZ is the Krasnoyarsk Aluminium Plant), which is why we decided to name the new venue KRAZ-Opera. Here we'll continue to promote high art with the same quality our audiences have come to expect, making opera and ballet accessible to music and theatre fans from every part of the city and region.”
The new venue features a main stage with 596 seats and a dance hall accommodating up to 200 guests. Audiences will be able to enjoy beloved concerts, chamber performances, and new productions created exclusively for the KRAZ-Opera. The venue will also host photo exhibitions, costume displays, and creative workshops.
“The KRAZ-Opera project offers a unique opportunity for residents of the Sovetsky District to experience live art,” said Nikita Kostylev, Head of the Metallurgists' Palace of Culture and Sports. “The Palace aims to become a cultural hub that unites the community. We are proud to be part of the theatre’s expansion into our district. Art close to home is exactly what we all need today.”
The Metallurgists' Palace of Culture and Sports is set to become a new home for opera and ballet, welcoming both children and adults from the Sovetsky District and across Krasnoyarsk.
