Alexander Mikhaliov to perform in Mongolia

Soloist of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Alexander Mikhaliov will take part in opera and romance songs concerts in the Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar in May.

We should remind that in February 2023, Tserenchunt Ulziyburen, a tenor from Mongolia, made his debut as Lensky in Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin. The invited soloist got acquainted with Alexander Mikhaliov who performed the part of Onegin in that show. The soloist of the Mongolian Opera and Ballet Theatre invited his Krasnoyarsk colleague to perform in his hometown Ulaanbaatar.

The programme of Alexander Mikhaliov's Mongolian tour includes popular Russian romance songs: In the Silent Night of Secrets by Sergei Rachmaninoff, O Motherland Happy and Endless Hour by Georgy Sviridov, Troika Rushing by Pyotr Bulakhov, and the Mongolian song Ai Nan Aa. In addition, the Krasnoyarsk singer will sing arias from operas for Mongolian music fans: Yeletsky’s arioso from Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, Figaro’s cavatina from Gioacchino Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Escamillo’s couplets from Georges Bizet’s Carmen; he will also perform Mozart’s Don Giovanni in duet of Don Giovanni and Zerlina along with another guest of the concert, the Chinese soprano singer Zhang Lei. Tserenchunt Ulziyburen who invited Alexander Mikhaliov will also take part in the concert performing Mongolian songs and arias from Italian classical operas.

Concerts will be held on May 7 in the open air - on Genghis Khan Square in the centre of Ulaanbaatar where the government buildings of the country and the Opera and Ballet Theatre of Mongolia are located; and on May 9 - directly at the Theatre.
