April 2021: the constellation of guest musicians

In April, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is going to offer fans of Russian art a wonderful gift: guest stars - conductors and vocalists - will be engaged in several performances at once; these are operas Prince Igor by Alexander Borodin, The Queen of Spades by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Prisoner of the Caucasus by César Cui.

On April 4, the leading female part of the opera Prince Igor - Yaroslavna - will be performed by soprano Maria Litke, principal singer of the Mikhailovsky Theatre (St.Petersburg). The soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, bass singer Vladimir Komovich will be back on the Krasnoyarsk stage as Khan Konchak. In the immediate past, Vladimir was a soloist of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. In the season of 2016-2017, he joined the Bolshoi Theatre Youth Opera Programme, and the following season he was accepted into the Bolshoi’s company.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky's opera The Queen of Spades will be performed on the 17th of April by invited musicians: soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Anna Nechaeva (soprano), soloist of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Alexei Zelenkov (baritone), and Dmitri Yurovsky, music director and chief conductor of the latter theatre. Dmitri - the youngest representative of the famous music dynasty - has performed in leading theatres of Europe and the American continent as an opera and symphony conductor. He often travels to Russian theatres to participate in various projects. Anna is going to perform the part of Lisa (in which she has many a time appeared on the stage of the Bolshoi), Aleksei - the part of Tomsky: it helped the singer win the Onegin National Opera Prize in 2017.

On April 23 and 24, the world-class musician Marius Stravinsky (the United Kingdom), the grand-nephew of the composer Igor Stravinsky, will conduct the Prisoner of the Caucasus opera. Krasnoyarsk residents are already acquainted with his talent: he conducted Giuseppe Verdi's opera Aida at the beginning of February.

So, learning the interpretations of great Russian operas by famous musicians surely is an additional reason for visiting the performances of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.
