Mikhail Gubsky will take part in the opera Pagliacci premiere performance

Honoured Artist of Russia, tenor Mikhail Gubsky was invited to the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre to sing the leading role of Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera Pagliacci. The artist will take the stage as the clown Canio on March 28.

Mikhail Gubsky is a soloist of the Kolobov Moscow New Opera Theatre and a guest soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. The singer is well known to the Krasnoyarsk opera fans. Mikhail actively collaborates with the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. He has repeatedly appeared on its stage in the leading parts of the tenor repertoire: Radamès (Aida by Verdi), Count of Vaudémont (Iolanta by Tchaikovsky), Nemorino (L'Elisir d'Amore by Donizetti), Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly by Puccini), Herman (The Queen of Spades by Tchaikovsky), Sadko (the eponymous opera by Rimsky-Korsakov), and others.

Gubsky took part in the international festival Stars Parade at the Opera and the 4th Krasnoyarsk International Music Festival of the Asia-Pacific Region. The singer tours a lot, he is frequently invited to perform at the world's leading opera venues. His repertoire includes over 30 roles in operas by Verdi, Donizetti, Tchaikovsky, Mussorgsky, Mascagni, Prokofiev, and many other composers. He collaborated with such conductors as Mstislav Rostropovich, Mikhail Pletnyov, Vladimir Spivakov, Yevgeny Kolobov.

His stage presence, high professionalism, soulfulness and sincerity of performance, and, what’s most important, his extraordinary velvet, "intoxicating" voice strikes the chord with any spectator at a theatre’s auditorium - that’s what music critics say about Mikhail Gubsky's performing skills.

The premiere of a contemporary interpretation of Ruggero Leoncavallo's opera Pagliacci by director Elizaveta Korneeva and artist Yekaterina Ageniy will take place on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera House on March 27 and 28, 2021.
