Before the two November performances of the Tuvan musical The Legend of the Winds by Urana Khomushku and Ruslan Chokurov, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will host brief audience meet-and-greets with the creators of the production. The discussions, held in the theatre foyer within the Half an Hour Before the Premiere project, will be moderated by musicologist Lyudmila Gavrilova.
On November 6, Krasnoyarsk audiences will meet Alexander Lebedev, stage director of The Legend of the Winds (Principal Director of the Omsk State Music Theatre and a diploma winner of the Golden Mask f, estival), and Sayan Mongush, Chief Executive of the Victor Kok-ool National Theatre of the Republic of Tuva — the company presenting The Legend of the Winds in Krasnoyarsk.
On November 7, the conversation will feature Urana Khomushku, the musical’s composer, member of the Union of Composers of Russia and teacher of music theory at the Kendenbil Republican School of Arts. Together with Roman Chokurov, she won the Kuzhuget Shoigu Cultural Foundation competition for the creation of the first Tuvan musical based on folk tales. Her score seamlessly blends Tuvan folklore with contemporary genres such as rock, ethno-rock, hip-hop, and electronic music.
Moderator Lyudmila Gavrilova is Head of the Department of Music History at the Hvorostovsky Siberian Institute of Arts, Doctor of Art History, and member of the Union of Composers of Russia. She also serves as Chairlady of the Board of Trustees of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.
