The shortlist for the 10th National Onegin Opera Award has been announced. It features 15 theatres from 12 regions of Russia, a s well as two independent opera projects. Among the nominees are representatives of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The Krasnoyarsk Opera Company is competing in the following categories:

EVENT: To Love in Wartime by Alexander Tchaikovsky, directed by Irina Lychagina

GUEST ARTIST: Nurgalym Amanbai, the Abai Kazakh National Opera and Ballet Theatre (Almaty) — Mikhail in Alexander Tchaikovsky’s To Love in Wartime

Alena Diyanova, the Mariinsky Theatre (Primorsky Stage) — Turandot in Giacomo Puccini’s Turandot

The awards ceremony, marking the tenth anniversary of the Onegin Opera Prize, will take place on November 29 at the historic stage of the Mariinsky Theatre in St. Petersburg. The following day, November 30, the programme will conclude with a gala concert of laureates and nominees in the Grand Italian Courtyard of the State Hermitage Museum.

As a reminder, Alexander Tchaikovsky’s opera To Love in Wartime, based on works by Viktor Astafiev, will be performed at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on November 26 and 27.
