Big November: the Bolshoi Theatre in Krasnoyarsk

In November 2021, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will host the Gala Nights of the legendary dancer and choreographer, People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky dedicated to his anniversary. The events will be held on November 17 and 18. On the 17th of November, the soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia - world ballet stars Maria Alexandrova, Vladislav Lantratov, Marianna Ryzhkina - will dance on the Krasnoyarsk stage.

Mikhail Lavrovsky devoted 60 years of his life to the art of ballet. He has performed dozens of leading roles; as a choreographer, he worked on 12 ballets and several ballet TV productions, staged dances and scenic movements for drama performances and was engaged in teaching.
 Mikhail Leonidovich was a tutor of many outstanding dancers of the Bolshoi Theatre.

On November 17, Krasnoyarsk ballet-goers will have a rare opportunity to get to know the creative heritage of the choreographer Mikhail Lavrovsky performed by his students.

In the first part of the anniversary concert, Krasnoyarsk residents will see an excerpt from Alexander Simonenko's ballet Amok that will be performed by People's Artist of Russia, ex-prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Maria Alexandrova and Honoured Artist of Russia, principal dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre Vladislav Lantratov. Honoured Artist of Russia Marianna Ryzhkina will perform the ballet suite Two Women to music by Sergei Banevich.

Before the performance of the Moscow guests, the stage will be taken by the principal dancers of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Natalia Bobrova, Elena Svinko, Anna Fedosova, Georgy Bolsunovsky, Yuri Kudriavtsev, Marcello Pelizzoni: they’ll perform excerpts from the ballets Spartacus by Khachaturian, Giselle by Adam, Don Quixote by Minkus.

The second part of the concert will present one of the most considerable achievements of contemporary choreography: the ballet Nijinsky to music by Sergei Rachmaninoff, staged by Mikhail Lavrovsky. It’ a plastique depiction of the dramatic relationships between the outstanding Russian dancer Vatslav Nijinsky, his wife Romola, and the famous Russian impresario Sergei Diaghilev, founder of the Russian Ballet of Diaghilev troupe. The principal dancers of the Krasnoyarsk theatre will express the feelings and emotions of this trio: Honoured Artist of Russia Yekaterina Bulgutova (Romola), Matvey Nikishaev (Nizhinsky), Kirill Litvinenko (Diaghilev).

It’s worth mentioning that a little earlier - on November 12 - the principal dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre Jacopo Tissi will perform the role of the enamoured artist Salvator Rosa in the premiere show of Cesare Pugni’s ballet Catarina ou La Fille du Bandit.
