The III International competition of young opera singers and directors named after P. I. Slovtsov came to the end. It passed with assistance of the ministry of culture of the Krasnoyarsk territory, regional public Fund of Irina Arkhipova, the Union of theatre workers of Russia, city administration of Krasnoyarsk and the Moscow musical theatre "Helicon opera", under the patronage of the governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory.
Competition took place from May 17 to May 23 at the Krasnoyarsk state opera and ballet theatre. 42 vocalists and 7 directors fought for the rank of winners from Russia, Belgium, Switzeland, Mongolia, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
The jury was consisted of famous Russian and foreign performers, opera directors and managers of the European opera theatres.
"I consider that this absolutely right decision to unite directors and vocalists as it is necessary to teach young and interaction with each other, – told the cochairman of jury, the President of the Fund of Irina Arkhipova, the People's artist of the USSR Vladislav Pyavko. – For the limit of time the director has to estimate instantly possibilities of the singer – both vocal, and artistic, and to stage a small scene. It is the extensive experience for both".
On May 18, on the competition opening day, participants and representatives of jury honored memory of the great singer and founder of vocal opera school in our city, having laid flowers on the grave of Pyotr Slovtsov and his spouse. In the evening there was the ceremony of opening and show of the opera of P. Tchaikovsky "Queen of spades", this performance became dedication to the prima donna of the Bolshoi theatre, the People’s artist of the USSR Elena Obraztsova. Polina's part was performed by her daughter – Elena Makarova, Herman's party – the soloist of the Maryinsky theatre Augustus Amonov. The conductor – Alevtina Joffe, the winner of the International competition, the conductor of the Moscow state academic children's musical theatre named after N. I. Sats.
Within a week, except competitive listenings of vocalists, within musical competition there passed the creative laboratory of the II International competition of young opera directors "NANO-Opera", organized by the Moscow musical theatre "Helicon opera". And in the third, final, round singers and directors presented on judgment of jury the collaboration – arias and duets from operas from the repertoire of the Krasnoyarsk state opera and ballet theatre.
"Not everyone will be able to stage the opera, – the Italian singer Fiorenza Cossotto speaks. – The director has to be ready to work with musical material, has to hear and understand the vocalist, and the vocalist, in turn, has to be ready to game on a scene, that is they have to be on one wave, then talented staging turns out, and public feels it".
Following the results of the final test the Grand Prix and the rank of the winner of the competition it was awarded to Mikhail Pirogov (Russia, Ulan-Ude). The I Award and the rank of the winner of competition was won by Darya Ryabinko (Russia, Krasnoyarsk) and Vyacheslav Vasilyev (Russia, St. Petersburg). Burmistrova Olga (Russia, Moscow), Prytchenkova Tatyana (Russia, Cheboksary), Sukhanov Alexander (Russia, Yaroslavl) and Mikhalev Alexander (Russia, Krasnoyarsk) became owners of the II Award and the ranks of winners of competition. The III Award and ranks of winners of competition was won by Olga Cheremnykh (Russia, Krasnoyarsk), Inna Spodina (Russia, Krasnoyarsk), Ksenia Hovanova (Russia, Yekaterinburg), Sergey Osovin (Russia, Moscow), Sergey Vanin (Russia, Chelyabinsk) and Alexey Strazhevich (Belarus).
Owners of the special prizes became: Olga Burmistrova (Russia, Moscow) and Alexander Sukhanov (Russia, Yaroslavl) – the Prize of the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk territory. Olga Cheremnykh (Russia, Krasnoyarsk) – the Prize of the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk. Ksenia Hovanova (Russia, Yekaterinburg) and Byambazhav Mongolkhuu (Mongolia) won the Prize of spectator sympathies.
Diplomas for director's work at competition awarded Sergey Novikov (Russia), Pavel Sorokin (Russia) and Ekaterina Vasileva (Russia). Diplomas for participation in director's laboratory – Darya Potaturko (Belarus), Georgy Dmitriyev (Uzbekistan), Yulia Zhuravkova (Ukraine) and Andreas Rosar (Switzerland).
The III International competition of young opera singers and directors named after P. I. Slovtsov came to the end with big Gala concert. In it took part the winner vocalists, directors diploma holders, soloists of the Krasnoyarsk state opera and ballet theatre, judges of competition named after P. Slovtsov – the soloist of the Bolshoi theatre, the artistic director of the opera troupe of the Krasnoyarsk state opera and ballet theatre, the People’s artist of Russia Irina Dolzhenko and the assistant to the chief conductor-musical director of the Bolshoi theatre of Russia, the People’s artist of the USSR Makvala Kasrashvili. One of the best opera singers of the Czech Republic – the soloist of the Prague state opera Philip Bandzhak became the special guest of the Gala concert.
