Elena Svinko to perform on the stage of the Musa Cälil Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre

The principal dancer of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is going to perform at the Musa Cälil Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre in Kazan within the 36th Rudolf Nureyev International Festival of Classical Ballet.

About 100 of the best artists from Russian and foreign theatres have been invited to participate in this project. The festival will open with A Thousand and One Nights production of the Primorsky Stage of the Mariinsky Theatre on May 13 and will close with a gala concert on June 2. The festival will feature the ballets Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake by Pyotr Tchaikovsky, La Bayadère and Don Quixote by Ludwig Minkus, Spartacus by Aram Khachaturian, Golden Horde by Reseda Akhiyarova.

The principal dancer of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, participant of the Bolshoi Ballet project of the Kultura TV channel, laureate of Russian and international competitions Elena Svinko will take the Tatar stage on May 24 as oriental odalisque Gulnare in Adolphe Adam's ballet Le Corsaire. The principal dancers of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Angelina Vorontsova (as Medora) and Ernest Latypov (as Conrad) have been invited to take part in this performance.

“The part of Gulnare in the ballet Le Corsaire will be my debut at the Tatar theatre. It is not easy to get prepared for this performance because of the busy schedule in the Krasnoyarsk theatre: at the same time, I am working on the part of Carmen (it will also be my first performance of the part). Besides, we’re already rehearsing the ballet Catarina ou La Fille du Bandit by Cesare Pugni. The audience will see in the next theatrical season,” Elena Svinko commented.

We add that Elena’s debut performance in the ballet opera Carmen to the music of Georges Bizet will take place on May 20.
