The principal singer of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Eugeny Baldanov celebrates the 20th anniversary of his creative journey. On October 1, he’s going to perform a solo concert.
This creative meeting will be held in the lobby of the theatre as an art café and will consist of two parts.
“In order to present my achievements over 20 years to my guests, I’ll sing my operatic repertoire in the first part of the concert, and the Maestro Ensemble will accompany me: I will take the stage as characters of operas by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Giuseppe Verdi, Gaetano Donizetti, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Alexander Borodin, Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov ... In the second part, I will perform my favourite songs and romance art works, and I will tell about myself and my artistic journey. The concert is called Jokingly and In Earnest, so it’ll be fun! My colleagues in the theatre will keep me company on the stage,” said Evgeny Baldanov.
Eugene was born in Ulan-Ude (the Republic of Buryatia). He graduated from the Tchaikovsky Ulan-Ude College of Music (Faculty of Choral Conducting), the Glinka Novosibirsk State Conservatory, he also pursued a doctorate there. When a student, he sang at the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, but it was the Krasnoyarsk Theatre that became his home - Eugeny has been its soloist since 2002. His debut was the part of Lensky in the opera Eugene Onegin by Tchaikovsky, The singer's repertoire includes all the parts for the lyric tenor.
In 2008, he took part in the opera company’s tours in the United Kingdom, where he performed the parts of Alfredo in La Traviata by Verdi and Goro in Madame Butterfly by Puccini. In the Night at the Opera projects, he performed Deacon (Christmas Eve by Rimsky-Korsakov) and Ikharev (The Gamblers by Shostakovich).
Eugeny is a laureate of the regional festival Theatre Spring in the nominated category Best Supporting Role in an Opera Performance for the role of an Indian guest in the opera Sadko by Rimsky-Korsakov (2013), as well as the international competition Siberian Romansiada (Tomsk, 2006) and the Russian competition Bella Voce (Moscow, 2001).
