Guest conductor Mikhail Granovsky will take the stand at the opening of the season

The new 45th season of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will start with a gala-concert on September 23. The music director of the concert is guest maestro Mikhail Granovsky; he will also conduct it.

Mikhail Grigorievich is a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory (Faculty of Choral Conducting and Faculty of Opera and Symphony Сonducting). For more than 10 years, he had worked as a conductor at the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia. Between 2008 and 2018, he was the chief guest conductor of the Yekaterinburg Opera and Ballet Theatre, where he staged a number of opera and ballet productions and concert projects.

As an opera and ballet conductor, Mikhail Granovsky has performed in Russia (The Mikhailovsky Theatre, Bashkir Opera and Ballet Theatre, Tatar Opera and Ballet Theatre, Tsaritsynskaya Opera in Volgograd, etc.) and abroad (Bangkok, Lisbon, Mexico City, Sarajevo, Bogotá, etc.). Since 2013, he is a guest conductor of the Universal Ballet (Seoul, Korea). Mikhail Granovsky worked with the best Russian orchestras: the Tchaikovsky Symphony Orchestra,  Eugeny Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Russian National Orchestra, The Saint Petersburg Academic Symphony Orchestra, the Novosibirsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, and others.

For the past four years, Mikhail Granovsky has led the Tomsk Academic Symphony Orchestra. In 2018, he joined the panel of judges for the composers' competition at the Moscow Philharmonic Festival Another Space; in 2021-2022, he was a member of the Expert Council of the 2nd Young Composers Competition Partitura (Full Score). The conductor actively promotes the work of young Russian composers and rescues the music of Russian and Soviet composers from oblivion.

“I have gladly accepted the offer of the Theatre Director to perform at the season opening in Krasnoyarsk. It is always interesting to expand my geography: I’ll visit Krasnoyarsk for the first time, although I have already visited other cities of Siberia. I've heard a lot about the Theatre's strong opera company: their recent performances at the Bolshoi Theatre has confirmed it. I thank my lucky stars for the opportunity of taking the stage along with the famous baritone, the legend of the world opera - Sergei Leiferkus, whose records inspired and taught several generations of singers, conductors, and music fans. I invite all friends and opera art admirers to our concert in Krasnoyarsk,” commented maestro Mikhail Granovsky.
