At the age of 77, the tutor of the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, Honoured Artist of Russia German Timofeyevich Efremov has passed away. He has served in the Theatre for more than forty years.
After he had graduated from the Mussorgsky Ural State Conservatory, German Efremov joined the Perm Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1975 as a principal singer. His debut there was the part of Figaro in the opera Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini.
German Efremov joined the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre in 1981. In his first season on the Krasnoyarsk stage, the singer presented the parts of Marullo in Rigoletto and Yeletsky in The Queen of Spades. Over the years, he has performed more than forty baritone parts of the Theatre’s repertoire.
Maestro gained recognition not only as an opera singer but also as an excellent performer of Russian and foreign romance art songs, folk songs, and works of Soviet songwriters. He used to perform chamber vocal works in many concerts of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre on its stage, as well as during the opera company's tours in the Krasnoyarsk Region.
German Timofeyevich also conducted teaching activities. Since 2010, he had been a teacher at the Faculty of Solo Singing and Opera Training of the Siberian State Institute of Arts. He held a degree of associate professor. Being a tutor of the opera company, he readily helped young singers rehearse new parts.
German Timofeyevich Efremov will be remembered as a great artist, talented teacher, responsive person. The team of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre expresses their sincere condolences to the family and friends of German Timofeyevich.
The farewell ceremony will be held on the stage of the Theatre from 10:00 to 12:00 on December 2 (access to the stage through the central entrance).
