The opera Il Trovatore by Giuseppe Verdi will be staged in our theatre on May 26. The performance is dedicated to our opera company’s soloist Zhaneta Tarayan.

It’s hard to believe it’s been already a month since the talented singer and the lovely person, Honoured Artist of Russia Zhaneta Georgievna Tarayan passed away. She dedicated nearly forty years of her life to our theatre and all these years she remained one of the leading soloists of the theatre, the favourite of the audience. During her singing career Zhaneta Tarayan probably performed all the most complicated mezzo-soprano roles in the world. But, perhaps, the crowning role of hers was the gypsy Azucena in Il Trovatore by Verdi. This was her graduation thesis role at the Azerbaijan State Conservatory, and later the singer shone in this role on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. Her performing Azucena is still considered to be the benchmark. In 1988 the artist was awarded with the regional theatre award in the nomination “For the best opera performance” for this part. Nowadays, Azucena's part is performed in our theatre by Zhaneta Georgievna's student, laureate of international competitions Daria Ryabinko.

On May 26, the Il Trovatore opera will be shown on our stage again. The leading characters of the opera will be performed by the soloists of our theatre Kseniya Khovanova, Alexei Bocharov, Inna Spodina, Dmitri Ryabtsev, Igor Petryakov, soloist of the Buryat Opera and Ballet Theatre Mikhail Pirogov, Azucena will be performed by the People's Artist of Russia, soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre Irina Dolzhenko.

The artists and the whole theatre staff dedicate this performance to Zhaneta Georgievna Tarayan. Dear spectators, we invite you to honour the memory of the brilliant singer along with us.
