On 17 January, the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will join the rest of the country in celebrating Artists Day for the first time. This Saturday, the theatre will host a meeting with People’s and Honoured Artists, followed by a special awards ceremony at which silver badges of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre will be presented.
The background to the event is as follows. Only recently, the theatre established a new honorary award for its staff—a gold badge. It was presented to company members who have served the theatre since its founding and hold federal honorary titles. Those taking part in the creative meeting with audiences—People’s Artists of Russia Larisa Marzoeva and Vladimir Yefimov, and Honoured Artists of Russia Olga Akinfeeva, Vera Baranova, and Oleg Alekseyev—have already received the gold badge. At this event, they will “pass the baton” by presenting silver badges to their colleagues.
Silver badges, awarded for outstanding artistic achievement, will go to representatives of five departments of the theatre: the opera and ballet companies, the choir, the orchestra, and the Children’s Opera Studio.
The theatre’s guests who attend the creative meeting on 17 January will have the opportunity to meet their favourite artists and find out who has received the silver awards. The event begins at 4:00 pm in the second-floor foyer. Admission is free, but registration via the link is required. Places are limited, so early registration is recommended.
As a reminder, Artists Day is a newly established professional holiday honouring performers in theatre, film, circus, popular entertainment, and music. It was introduced in July 2025 on the initiative of Vladimir Mashkov, Chair of the Russian Theatre Union.
