Krasnoyarsk to host the chamber orchestra music festival Asia–Siberia–Europe

From 3 to 15 September 2025, Krasnoyarsk will welcome the 23rd International Festival of Chamber Orchestra Music Asia–Siberia–Europe. The opening and closing events of the festival will take place at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre.

The festival will open on 3 September with a gala dedicated to the Years of Culture between Russia and China. The concert will be conducted by the gifted Chinese maestro Haozhan Li and will feature the Krasnoyarsk debut of world-renowned pipa virtuoso Yang Jing. Pipa is a Chinese four-stringed lute. The soloists will include violinist Rimma Benyumova (Russia), cellist Alexander Ramm (Russia), and pianist Arthur Ancelle (France). Sharing the stage will be the large Festival Symphony Orchestra uniting the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra, the Krasnoyarsk Academic Symphony Orchestra, and musicians of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Orchestra.

The closing concert on 15 September, titled Old and New Vienna, will bring together classical tradition and modern innovation. Nikita Borisoglebsky — a virtuoso violinist, soloist of the Moscow Philharmonic Hall, and Honoured Artist of Russia — will perform masterpieces by Mozart and Schubert. The night will also feature the Russian premiere of Christoph Ehrenfellner’s Chamber Symphony performed by the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra and conducted by the composer himself, who won the International Classical Music Award (ICMA) for Composer of the Year 2025.

The festival programme also includes:
September 4, Small Philharmonic Hall – Concert of Duets (piano and cello).

September 6 – First Krasnoyarsk performances of concertos for lute and orchestra by Adam Falckenhagen and Johann Friedrich Fasch. The Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra conducted by Mikhail Benyumov will present the programme From Haydn to Piazzolla. September 7, the Surikov Art Museum – An intimate night of Baroque chamber music.

September 8 – the Krasnoyarsk debut of the celebrated Mongolian ensemble Eeten, famous for their mastery of national instruments and unique throat singing.

September 11 – Franz Schubert’s Fantasies, a journey into the elevated romanticism and delicate lyricism of the great composer, performed by outstanding Kazakh pianist Sholpan Barlykova and the Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra conducted by Austrian violinist and composer, Maestro Christoph Ehrenfellner.

The Krasnoyarsk Chamber Orchestra is the organiser and permanent participant of the festival. Artistic Director of the festival is Mikhail Benyumov, Honoured Art Figure of the Russian Federation. Its director is Honoured Artist of Russia Larisa Markosyan. Held under the patronage of the Mayor of Krasnoyarsk, the festival is founded by the Main Directorate of Culture of the Administration of Krasnoyarsk. This major cultural project offers a unique space for creative collaboration between Siberian musicians and leading performers from around the world.
