The spectators of Pyotr Tchaikovsky’s opera Eugene Onegin are to come to the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre a bit earlier before the show on May 8 and 9: they’ll take part in an educational event. At 18:30 on May 8 and at 17:30 on May 9, Lyudmila Gavrilova will deliver lectures in the second floor foyer.
Theatre’s guests already know the project Half an Hour Before the Premiere: directors, artists, and experts introduce a new production to them half an hour before the premiere performances start. But why not tell fans of opera and ballet interesting facts and stories about already known and favourite works? This format acquired the name Half an Hour Before the Third Bell. Within this new project, there will be a conversation between the audience and Doctor of Art History Lyudmila Gavrilova on the subject “A. S. Pushkin and a Music Theatre” dedicated to the 225th birthday of the great Russian poet and to the production of the opera Eugene Onegin by Pyotr Tchaikovsky at the Krasnoyarsk Opera House.
Lyudmila Gavrilova heads the Music History Faculty at the Hvorostovsky Siberian Institute of Arts, she’s a member of the Union of Composers of Russia and chairman of the trustees board of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre. Lyudmila Vladimirovna’s fascinating conversations are already known to music fans within the project Half an Hour Before the Premiere (Oleg Prostitov’s ballet The Black Man, Vincenzo Bellini’s opera I Capuleti e i Montecchi). In April, she gave a lecture on the opera Tosca by Giacoco Puccini.
People’s Artist of Russia Larisa Marzoeva will take part in the conversation with the expert. She had performed the role of Tatiana at the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre for many years having made her debut in 1988.
