The Bolshoi Theatre of Russia launches a large-scale programme of performances that’ll last one year and is dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the People's Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky. One of the events of the programme will take place at the Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk State Opera and Ballet Theatre on November 17, 2021. The Bolshoi Theatre principal dancers will take part in the gala concert.
In the first part of the anniversary concert, Krasnoyarsk residents will see an excerpt from Alexander Simonenko's ballet Amok that will be performed by People's Artist of Russia, ex-prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia Maria Alexandrova and Honoured Artist of Russia, principal dancer of the Bolshoi Theatre Vladislav Lantratov.
Marianna Ryzhkina (Honoured Artist of Russia) and Victoria Litvinova (they both are ex-soloists of the Bolshoi Theatre and assistant choreographers), as well as the Bolshoi ballet dancers Artur Mkrtchyan and Eugeny Golovin will dance an excerpt of the ballet suite Two Women created to the music by Sergei Banevich. The hero of the day Mikhail Lavrovsky is the choreographer of both ballets to premiere on the stage of the Moscow Helikon-Opera Theatre on October 29 and 30.
Before the Moscow guests performance, the stage will be taken by the principal dancers of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre Natalia Bobrova, Elena Svinko, Anna Fedosova, Georgy Bolsunovsky, Yuri Kudriavtsev, Marcello Pelizzoni: they’ll perform excerpts from the ballets Giselle by Adam, Don Quixote by Minkus.
The second part of the concert will present one of the most considerable achievements of contemporary choreography: the ballet Nijinsky to music by Sergei Rachmaninoff, staged by Mikhail Lavrovsky. It’s a plastique depiction of the dramatic relationships between the outstanding Russian dancer Vatslav Nijinsky, his wife Romola, and the famous Russian impresario Sergei Diaghilev, founder of the Russian Ballet of Diaghilev troupe. The principal dancers of the Krasnoyarsk theatre will express the feelings and emotions of this trio: Honoured Artist of Russia Yekaterina Bulgutova (Romola), Matvey Nikishaev (Nizhinsky), Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Bobrov (Diaghilev).
We are to mention that People’s Artist of the USSR Mikhail Lavrovsky dedicated 60 years of his 80-years-life to the art of ballet dance. He has performed dozens of leading roles; as a choreographer, he worked on 12 ballets and several ballet TV productions, staged dances and scenic movements for drama performances and was engaged in teaching. Mikhail Leonidovich was a tutor of many outstanding dancers of the Bolshoi Theatre. On November 17, Krasnoyarsk ballet-goers will have a rare opportunity to get to know the creative heritage of the choreographer Mikhail Lavrovsky performed by his students.
