The Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre has got nine nominations for the Golden Mask Award

The Russian National Theatre Award Golden Mask has announced the nominees for the season 2020-2021. The Hvorostovsky Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre is nominated in 9 categories.

All nine nominations are distributed between two shows:

The Bogatyrs (folk epic warriors) - the first Russian farcical operetta to the music by Alexander Borodin

  • The Best Performance category
  • The Best Conductor category - Ivan Velikanov
  • The Best Director category - Honoured Artist of Russia Sergei Bobrov
  • The Best Female Part category - Daria Ryabinko (Militrisa Kirbitievna)
  • The Best Male Part category - Honoured Artist of Buryatia Mikhail Pirogov (Solovey Budimirovich)
  • The Best Costume Designer in a Music Theatre category - Elena Zaytseva

The Leningrad Symphony (Lamento) - a choreographic mystery show to music by Alexei Syumak, Dmitri Shostakovich, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

  • The Best Performance category
  • The Best Conductor category - Ivan Velikanov
  • The Best Lighting Designer in a Music Theatre category - Ruslan Mayorov

These shows, highly appreciated by experts, will be performed on the stage of the Krasnoyarsk Opera and Ballet Theatre already in November: The Leningrad Symphony - on November 15, Bogatyrs - on November 20.

The 28th Golden Mask Festival will traditionally be held from January to April, subject to the necessary security measures. The list of nominees includes 81 performances of 67 theatres in total - this is a record high of the Golden Mask award.
